George Darby Papers
Scope and Contents
The collection of Darby papers consists of five boxes. The majority of the materials included in the boxes are correspondence within the Texas Young Republican Federation (TYRF). There are many names that appear frequently and those are noted on the folders within each box. Some key players are: Neil Calnan, Linda Underwood, Glenn Looney, Jim Oberwetter, Albert Fay, Peter O’Donnell, John Tower, George H. W. Bush, Dick Teel, Marvin Collins, Gary Toothaker, Lewin Plunkett, Donald E. ‘Buz’ Lukens, and Wick Allison, and Richard A Viguerie.

Biographical / Historical
George Darby was an active participant in the Young Republican clubs in Texas. He attended the University of Texas and was a leader of the UT, frequently communicating with GOP leaders and campaigning. He became a well known name around the Texas Young Republicans and eventually the larger GOP as a whole. He was YR state chairman from 1963–1967. He became a San Antonio businessman.
