Thomas Quirk Collection of Young Republicans
Scope and Contents
The bulk of this collection is correspondence between Quirk and other organizers and members for the YR. These provide valuable insight into how the group was run and what they were doing. Much of it pertains to money management. There is also quite a bit of material circulated for the YRs and the Republican party, such as newspapers, pamphlets, informational flyers, etc. There are also several different iterations and revisions of the Young Republican National Federation and Texas Federation constitutions, as well as directories, and information about Young Republican National and State Conventions through the years.

Biographical / Historical
Tom Quirk was born in San Antonio in 1950 and joined the Republican party and the Young Republican National Federation at 18. His first involvement was at the University of Texas, then later the Bexar County branch of YR. He was an active organizer in the group through 1989. He planned and orchestrated the 1989 campaign to have the Young Republican National Convention in San Antonio, which was unsuccessful but extremely thorough. He was the Texas State Chairman of the YR in the late 1980s. His wife Ann was also involved in the group and is mentioned in several places.
