Two letters to “Landon” (with typed transcripts) concerning the Sequestration Act regarding “Alien Enemy” status in Tennessee during the Civil War: one letter from [General?] A. E. [“Mudwall”?] Jackson advises Landon to enlist in an East Tenn. regiment and “wipe out the reproach on your name.” It also states that he believes the war will be over by the end of this year. The second letter (incomplete) tells what will happen if property is seized by the Confederacy and offers to make arrangements with Col. Love, who is under “my” command, for enlistment.
