The Stone Photography Studio collection is a collection of photographs by R.J. Stone dating from the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. The photographs were taken at Stone’s studio in Georgetown, Texas, and almost all have a connection to Southwestern University. The collection consists of women’s portraits, including SU graduation photographs; women’s organization at Southwestern, including literary societies, sororities, and athletics; men’s portraits, including SU graduation photographs; men’s organizations at Southwestern, including literary societies, fraternities, and athletics; Southwestern University class portraits, miscellaneous group portraits; and photographs of the Southwestern campus as well as Georgetown.

First Honor Graduate of Southwestern University, 1900; A.M. degree from S.U.; taught Latin abd Greek in Hargrove College, 1901-02; Department of Science, Coronal Institute, 1902-05; summers spent at University of Chicago doing work in Chemistry for Ph.D.; elected to Chair of Chemistry in S.U., 1905; Secretary of Faculty; Chairman of hte Board of Registration. Elected Prof. of Chemistry at Southern Methodist University.
