FINCH, PRESIDENT 1950-1961 4.5' dia. plate, white with pink , edge guilded, small oval with black line drawing of ladies annex; 3.75' high x 2.5' bottom dia. South Western pitcher, scalloped, guilded mouth with 4 gold leaves; 4.5' high x 8' dia. bottom Preparatory Department pitcher, scalloped, guilded mouth with 4 gold leaves; 3 3/8' high x 3.75' dia. mouth, 2 handled metal sugar? bowl 'SU' engraved on front in script, bottom has insignia: '--W YORK 1852' and design that looks like woman's head? inside horse shoe shaped insignia 2010.10 a and b -donation of small oil lamp and long necked jar from ancient middle east and two modern Southwestern University paper weights, one cut glass and one marble/pewter. Oil lamp (2010.10 B) and jar (2010.10 A) stored with Steelman oil lamp collection - in box 4 of 4. 2011.11- 'Oriental' black lacquer and mother of pearl name plate. Finch, with information about the 'Oriental' nameplate or desk plate and speculations on it's origin, and also speculation about the book 'Arms and blazons of the colleges of Oxford, by Francis Pierrepont Barnard' (cataloged SC 378.42 B254a) which has President Finch's marginalia and it's possible use in the design of the Perkins chapel stained glass windows.
